Great service and great food. Everyone friendly and a beautiful view of lake.
Delicious food, attentive service.
No air conditioning. Very uncomfortable dining on a hot day. Server was friendly and adequate. Food on the other hand was disappointing. They profess to serve the 1905 salad made famous by The Columbia restaurant in Ybor city. It isn't even close and was expensive for what they gave you. Columbia should be mortified to think they are passing this off as their salad. I ordered scallops. They were tasty and for me 3 were enough but veggies were skimpy. All overpriced for what they gave you. I would not return there
My server Marcy was terrific. She was attentive without hovering. She took time to describe dishes and told me items that she thought i would enjoy. As a first time guest, her info about Chautauqua was a blessing. My southern tier burger hit all the right notes w the reverie goat cheese playing off the savory meat. The roasted brussel sprouts w onion jam was delish. If visiting here...u must experience and ambience!
Three of us had salmon entree, which was delicious. Fourth person had beef fillets that she thought was very good. Great service. Deelish creme brulee. Wine selection is very good.
Friendly service, top shelf, classy, delicious food
Had drinks with my girlfriends. Bar open during off season 4-8pm in lobby of the hotel. Great time. Stop by and see Bartender Dennis.
Nice place to eat
6 adults and 3 children went for a birthday dinner. First - they were not accommodating in getting us seating on the veranda or in the window view area. We sat at a large table in the back of the dining room. The service was good which is why I give a "1" rating - except half our meals were served and then we waited more than 5 minutes for the rest. The meals were mostly poor or way over priced. 5 sea scallops for $38.00!I personally ordered Veal Ragu for $30.00. It was the worst restaurant meal I have had in at least 20 years. You had to hunt for the tiny veal pieces which couldn't have amounted to 2 oz. The ragu sauce was nothing like any I had ever tasted and it was sparingly used resulting in a dry pasta. It was terrible and I left at least 1/2 behind. If it hadn't been a birthday celebration I would have mightily complained.NO! NO! Never eat there again.
My server Erin was fantastic! I sat on the porch and was enthralled by the gorgeous view of the lake. I've been around the world and I've really never seen any place like this. It was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious; the chef really knows what he is doing. This is the easiest recommendation I've ever made to anyone looking for OUTSTANDING SERVICE, FANTASTIC FOOD, and an AMAZING VIEW!!!
fine meal (grilled trout), great cocktails and service.
Best wings in town!!
A dry fish special. Nice side dishes. Tiny dessert portion. Confused service. We were there as friends' guests so we couldn't complain ... but would have under normal circumstances. That being said, the room is beautiful and the tables/dishes/silver are lovely. The servers are (mostly) trying. You may have better luck with your main course.
Fabulous food, dining on the veranda.
The atmosphere eating on the porch with good friends was magnificent. However it took a long time to receive our food and most was overcooked. The birthday dessert was appreciated. This restaurant needs to up its game to have repeat patrons at the price point it uses.
Poor management hamstrung a good server- dinner should not last an interminable more than two hours.
Great meal on the porch . Service and meal was outstanding. Definitely returning!
Finally got it right! We have been eating here once a week for the past 6 years..This year we are here 3 times. The menu was great with plenty of options--I ordered the trout 2 times it was that good. The stagg this year was spot on. We will keep our fingers crossed for next year. We loved the creme brulee and unfortunately it was taken off the menu
Buffet breakfast was not very good.
Expensive only a few vegan choices
History and elegance.
So wonderful to now have a place to have a drink by the lake in Chautauqua Institution. So glad they have extended their hours, too.
The food was delicious. I had the stuffed squash and enjoyed every bite.
Fantastic dining experience. Wonderful staff and food.
Despite what google map says, this place does NOT serve cocktails.
This is a grand old place, but the food and service are very unpredictable. Best patronized during weeks 2 or 3 until week 7 of the 9-week summer season, as help is difficult to find. Many, many maintainence issues in a very old building. That said, there seems to be a new guy in charge of food service!
inexperienced staff mediocre foodgreat setting
Beautiful setting, vintage food.
Went here for a soft opening. Excellent service, very friendly waiter who was able to help me in all of my confusion about the menu. I was very impressed with my appetizer, the tuna poke. However, the best part BY FAR was my filet mignon! It was cooked to perfection, and I can honestly say it was the best tasting piece of meat I've had in my life. After all of that, the baked Alaska desert was delicious. Although the prices were a little high, I did not mind, as the view overlooking Chautauqua lake was beautiful. All in all, I am very impressed with the improvements this restaurant has made over the years.
Great food and service
If you find yourself lucky enough to explore the grounds of the Chautauqua Institution, dinner at Heirloom is the cherry on top of what I can only assume is the best day of your life. Dining room manager Jake Heising has comprised a wine list unparalleled by any restaurant within a hundred mile radius. And the whiskey selection at the bar is more than you've ever dreamed of. Pair all of this with the Chef's seafood feature and a view of Lake Chautauqua... You'll never want to leave. Trust me.
